About
Kidtastics Swim Lessons offers private, semi-private, and group swim lessons, along with swim team prep and stroke development. The program also offers at home swim lessons, swim parties, and lifeguard services. Indoor lessons are available in 30-minute or 45-minute sessions, with 30 minutes recommended for ages 6 months–2 ½ years, a parent choice of longer lessons at 2 ½–3 years, and 45 minutes recommended for ages 4 years and older.
• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: Indoor lessons available Monday–Wednesday between 10:00am–2:30pm and 3:30–6:00pm from November 3 to December 17, with 8 total lessons over a 2-month period and a 7-lesson enrollment commitment; sessions are 30 or 45 minutes.
• Price: 30-minute private lesson $77.57 for 1 child; 30-minute semi-private lesson $46.29 per child for 2 children; 45-minute private lesson $84.43 for 1 child; 45-minute semi-private lesson $53.15 per child for 2 children.
Lessons can take place in a family’s own pool or at Kidtastics locations, and indoor lessons use a heated, fully enclosed pool with private bathrooms, an air-conditioned waiting area, and a shower for post-lesson rinses. For indoor lessons, swimmers are asked to bring a swimsuit, towel, and a Happy Nappy Duo reusable swim diaper, which is required at Salt & Sea Scuba. Parents are asked to apply sunscreen before the teacher arrives, avoid distractions during lessons, and may watch the last five minutes, with children ready to enter the water ten minutes before the scheduled start time.
All instructors are experienced with children of all ages and skill levels, and lifeguards are certified and trained in pool safety and emergency response. Kidtastics, LLC has been in business for 16 years, with more than 15,000 kids taught to swim and over 15,000 safe and confident swimmers reported, and holds a 4.9-star average review rating across Google, Facebook, and Yelp. The program is woman-owned and led by partner and supervisor Laurie Ball, a graduate of Arizona State University and owner-operator of Kidtastics Swim School for 18 years, and partner and swim teacher Heidi Neuman.
Kidtastics states a mission to provide children with tools to build self-esteem and confidence through programs taught by caring instructors, and uses its Kid-ology™ philosophy, which focuses on accountability, responsibility, respect, and a healthy, active lifestyle. The program notes a passion for keeping kids safe around water and an emphasis on water safety and responsibility, as well as life skills such as self-discipline, sportsmanship, and confidence. Kidtastics serves the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas and has joined forces with the non-profit Stop Drowning Now to expand water safety education by partnering with schools.
Parent testimonials describe instructors such as Laurie and Ashly as patient, kind, knowledgeable, and focused on water safety, with comments about timid swimmers gaining confidence, children putting their faces in the water, and noticeable progression over two weeks of lessons. Multiple parents from Scottsdale report returning for additional summers and referring other families to Kidtastics.
