North Scottsdale Soccer Club offers youth soccer through recreational soccer, competitive soccer, the Sandsharks Competitive Program, the Sandsharks Winter Soccer Camp, and Spring Recreational Soccer. The club is described as a growing, family-oriented soccer club and offers a full youth soccer experience from recreational to competitive.
The leadership team includes Mate Kozul as Director of Coaching, Igor Cavar as Assistant Director of Coaching, and Edson Rico as Academy Director. Mate Kozul holds a USSF A License, a USSF National Youth License, an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, an NSCAA Premier Diploma, and has been named USL Pro League “Coach of the Year”; he was part of the 1998 Yavapai College National Champion team, was a 1990 NIKE Elite Pro Player, and played professional soccer for 10 years in Croatia, Belgium, and the United States. Igor Cavar holds a USSF National B License, a USSF National Youth License, an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, an NSCAA Premier Diploma, and an NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma; he has a B.S. in Kinesiology from Arizona State University, was an All State Selection at Central High School, served as a two-year captain at Glendale Community College, and played for Grand Canyon State University. Edson Rico is a two-time All American, played professionally in Belgium from 1992–1996, then played with the semi-pro Tucson Fireballs and the Arizona Sahuaros, and has coached recreational and competitive youth soccer in North Scottsdale Soccer Club; the Yavapai College team he played on won the NJCAA National Championship during his second year there.
