• Ages: 3–13 years old
Rancho Summer Camps serves girls and boys in Pre-K through 8th grade, with a day camp for Grades Pre-K to 2 and an art, science, and technology-based program for Grades 3–8. The program includes project-based, collaborative, hands-on activities that combine technology, arts, sports, digital media, coding, esports, robotics, design, programming, and digital arts in a single day. New weekly themes are offered, and families can choose flexible scheduling with the option to enroll for one week or the entire summer.
Rancho Summer Camps is celebrating its 13th season, and the company behind the program has delivered creative summer camps nationwide for over 23 years to more than 300,000 students. All families receive free extended care, and extended care and snack are included at no additional charge, with snack specifically included for Day Camp (ages 3–6) and Extended Care. Weekly enrollment is limited overall and per age group for safety and quality, and a Family Orientation is held in early June where camp directors and instructors are available to meet and speak with parents and campers.
Rancho Summer Camps has adult-led instructors and an average camper-to-counselor ratio of 6:1. Staff are hired from professionals already working in education or individuals in college or postgraduate programs on track to work in education, and all counselors have graduated from high school and are currently teaching, coaching, or working toward a technology-based, academic, or education degree in college, with the exception of counselors who have previously worked with groups such as Teach For America or the Peace Corps. All team members undergo extensive training and full background checks, including mandatory State and Federal criminal background checks, CORI and SORI checks, FBI fingerprints, and a series of in-depth interviews with the Director of Talent and Hiring Department, and each instructor completes up to 20+ hours of online, webinar, and on-location training before the first day of camp.
The Rancho Summer Camps philosophy and approach to teaching is based on enrichment with a primary focus on experimentation, confidence-building, positivity, and character building, and the stated mission is to enrich the lives of children and pre-teens by simultaneously fostering fun and building character. Testimonials from parents describe children wanting to return week after week for new themes, enjoying the combination of traditional and STEM camp activities, and being engaged for the full day, including during aftercare. Other testimonials highlight daily instructional swimming for young campers, interest in activities like drone racing and STEM projects, and appreciation for the free extended care option and the camp mascot, Ozzie. Instructors’ testimonials describe using the curriculum in their own classrooms, improvements in their ability to teach technology, and experiences teaching young children to fly drones, program robots, and explore STEM topics.
