The organization describes itself as the nation’s original and most trusted youth STEM educator for kids and teens, the world’s go-to summer STEM educator, and the world's largest and most trusted tech program in the world. Each iD Tech experience is led by instructors from universities like Stanford, NYU, and Caltech, including professionals such as a game design guru from EA and a software engineering undergraduate at Caltech, hired through selective practices and intensive hybrid training. The mission is to create life-changing tech experiences that embolden students to shape the future, supported by a long-term learning system that equips kids and teens with skills for in-demand STEM careers. Over 50,000 girls have graduated from the camps and academies.
iD Tech Camps and Teen Academies has a 25-year legacy of excellence in STEM education, starting in 1999 when the family pioneered the first tech camps for kids and teens and grew from 280 students per year to 50,000 students per year around the world. The leadership team includes mother and daughter co-founders Kathryn and Alexa Ingram-Cauchi, first CEO Pete Ingram-Cauchi, and current CEO Tana Barton Haas, who is the mother of two iD Tech campers. From its beginnings as a Silicon Valley startup working seven days a week in a studio above a garage, the organization describes its programs as life-changing STEM experiences.
The program states that this year it will offer more scholarships than ever before to students from underserved communities, with a goal to help bridge the digital divide. One parent testimonial describes the experience by saying, “This wasn’t just a tech camp—it was a personal growth experience. Our son came home a little more independent, a lot more curious, and already asking when he can go back next summer."
