Circus and Aerial Academy of Tucson was founded in 2015. The Circus and Aerial Academy of Tucson, INC is a 501c3 non-profit with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, including financial aid and adaptive education opportunities. The mission is to provide a well-rounded and diverse education in circus and theater arts to youth and adults in the Tucson community, with a goal of offering circus to all who wish to participate regardless of age, body type, socio economic status, race, religion, culture, physical or developmental challenges, sexuality, gender identity, or any other perceived barrier to participation. The program states that there is no competition in circus, only collaboration, and that it promotes healthy eating and living habits and a healthy body image. It also includes community service opportunities, leadership opportunities, and lessons on setting and completing goals, working as part of a team, and exploring the self.
