About

Art Camps at The Arterie focus on mixed media work, sculpture, and art projects that incorporate the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Art projects use diverse materials and subject matter and include references to both current artists and art history. Instruction takes place in supported, small groups that allow for questions, conversation, games, and down time, and children work at their own pace without creating cookie-cutter art or copying paintings from books.

• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Most camps run 10:00am–2:00pm on select dates, with some shorter afternoon sessions
• Price: Not specified

Art Camps are led by Cara and The Arterie team. The studio states that 99% of lessons are college-level and are adjusted for different class age groups, and classes are grouped by age rather than skill level. All materials and snacks are included, and campers bring their own lunch. The program provides daily snacks and runs as a reservation-based studio, with no make-ups for missed camp days and a two-week cancellation policy that offers camp credit for timely cancellations, with no credits for late cancellations and no refunds. Credits are not valid for gift certificates, parties or events, or for use in the shop.

The Arterie’s mission is to introduce a wide range of artistic mediums and foster an appreciation for art and artists while teaching the fundamentals of drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculpture, and to offer quality art experiences at a variety of price points. As part of its broader programming, the studio offers free video tutorials, free community art days, art workshops, weekly classes in the studio and online, private group classes, parties, and art camps.
