Westlake Academy of Art was founded by George Paliotto, who is the director of the school. He founded Westlake Academy of Art to provide a place for the training of students who want to pursue their craft and increase their skills in visual art. The Westlake Academy of Art is built on foundational concepts that were taught by Glen Orbik at the California Art Institute, and it uses this approach as a base while incorporating a variety of methods and techniques. The school describes its heritage as linked through this lineage: Orbik - Fixler - Reilly - Bridgman - Gerome.
George Paliotto is a professional working artist and educator who also teaches painting and drawing at California Lutheran University. He has taught at California Lutheran University and the California Art Institute. For many years his work has been represented in galleries and featured in national shows, and he has primarily done figurative work, with a recent focus on Western and Native American Indian art. He does portrait commissions and works in oil, watercolor, and charcoal/pastel. He is a member of the American Impressionist Society, the Oil Painters of America, the Portrait Society of America, and the National Watercolor Society.
George Paliotto continues to sell his work in galleries and shows across the country, and his work has appeared on the Saturday night stage of the nationally recognized C.M. Russell Museum Auction in Great Falls, Montana. He has been involved in many other shows and was featured in the August 2017 issue of Cowboys and Indians magazine. His participation in the C.M. Russell Museum Auction is noted for 2015.
