About
Alameda Ballet Academy offers classical dance education with a focus on classical ballet training. Students take part in performances such as the Nutcracker and a Spring Recital, and the program also offers summer camps and summer classes.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Core ballet program runs from mid-August through early June
• Price: Dancers who choose to participate in the end of year Recital will be asked to contribute a recital fee (amount to be determined) to help cover production costs.
Alameda Ballet Academy was founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Abra Rudisill. Abra Rudisill has over 20 years of experience as a Prima Ballerina and Ballet Mistress with the Oakland Ballet. The academy is affiliated with a performing company, Alameda Civic Ballet. Students are evaluated twice a year to determine readiness for advancement to the next level. Summer registration is separate from the school year enrollment. A Performance Agreement must be signed by both the student and their parent or guardian for those who perform, and every parent is required to volunteer for performances. The recital fee helps cover production costs for the end of year Recital. The Alameda Ballet Academy is committed to delivering high-quality classical dance education to the community and states that it nurtures artistry, self-expression, grace, and musicality while fostering a passion for the art of dance. Alameda Ballet Academy and its affiliated performing company, Alameda Civic Ballet, were created to bring the elegance and discipline of classical ballet to the heart of the community.
