Alameda Gators Swim Team is a USA Swimming year-round comprehensive swim team offering stroke instruction, competitive training, and competitive swimming. The program accepts swimmers who can swim one full lap of a 25-yard pool non-stop and unassisted, including using dog paddle. Acceptance for membership is at the discretion of the coach after a tryout period, and workouts are held twelve months of the year.

The Alameda Gators Swim Team has been serving the Alameda community for over 30 years. The Alameda Swimming Pool Association (ASPA) sponsors the team and provides professional coaching at prices described as very reasonable, continuous direction for aquatic training, organizational cohesiveness, and financial stability. The team states that it prides itself on maintaining a fun and competitive atmosphere and does not turn down interested swimmers based on their skill level, nor does it seek out the most talented swimmers from other teams. The mission of the program is to develop overall character, discipline in technical skills, and the desire needed for each individual to maximize their potential, while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, goal setting and achievement, personal self-motivation, team spirit, cooperation, time management, mental toughness, academic excellence, dedicated swimming, and a wholesome social life. The program’s policies and practices are described as reflecting these goals, and the coaching staff is described as balanced and focused on the development of the whole child. Tables and BBQs are available free of charge at certain training pools for family use while swimmers are practicing.
