Chef Polly Sang Cooking Classes for Kids
Chef Polly Sang Home Kitchen, Alameda, CA
About
Chef Polly Sang Cooking Classes for Kids offers hands-on cooking experiences such as an Art & Cooking Camp for Kids, kids' birthday parties, and themed classes. Kids make specific dishes like gimbap/sushi rolls, Vietnamese spring rolls, corn tortillas and tacos, poke bowls, boba and snow cones, and empanadas in a dumpling-style class. Classes are 90 minutes, and all ingredients and cooking equipment are supplied.
• Ages: 8–14 years old
• Schedule: Classes are 90 minutes
Chef Polly Sang leads the program, drawing on experience in kitchens in NYC and California, cooking at the James Beard House, working with celebrity chefs, serving as a corporate chef for Compass Group, and building the culinary team at Pinterest. The mission of the classes is for kids to learn new skills and gain culinary confidence, with a focus on cooking from scratch with the best ingredients. The program emphasizes small, intimate groups, a four-person minimum for private classes, and options to choose from curated class themes or customize a class. The classes focus on building essential life skills, boosting academic understanding in math and science, improving fine motor skills, fostering creativity, learning about nutrition, increasing confidence, encouraging teamwork, and cultural awareness. Kids Cooking for Life, connected to this work, goes into schools to teach kids cooking and nutrition and to support kids in making smart food choices they can share with their families.
