Drawing on Earth is a program where kids create large-scale chalk drawings and street paintings. The program works with chalk as the main art material on pavement and other large outdoor surfaces.

Drawing on Earth is led by Mark Lewis Wagner, Founder of Drawing on Earth, who is an artist and founder of Drawing on Earth. The mission of Drawing on Earth is “Connecting Youth, Communities, and the Earth Through the Arts.” Drawing on Earth has been around for twenty some years.

Drawing on Earth is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. It holds a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest pavement art. The largest chalk pavement art measured 90,000 ft2 (8,361 m2) and was created by 5,678 children from schools in Alameda, California, USA, for the Kids’ Chalk Art Project between May 27 – June 7, 2008. The organization also holds a second world record chalk drawing by one artist, for a total of two world records for chalk drawings. One of the large artworks was captured in a satellite photograph taken from 423 miles high, and the organization has had six pieces of art photographed by satellites. Drawing on Earth has worked with over 40,000 kids worldwide, and the nonprofit has worked with over 40,000 kids and adults, has drawn on three continents, and has created projects at schools, corporate events, and museums.

A second grade child described feeling “already home because they are connected to nature.” Community support for Drawing on Earth has included the City of Alameda, Alameda Unified School District, Alameda PTA Council, Alameda Education Foundation, and the East Bay Nation of Men.
