Kiddie Kampus Cooperative Preschool

Kiddie Kampus Cooperative Preschool includes activities such as morning yoga and local field trips. The program uses a play-based curriculum in which play takes the form of self-satisfying activity through which the child gains control and comes to understand life. In this setting, children make decisions, solve problems, and deal with consequences through play.

Established in 1948, Kiddie Kampus Cooperative Preschool operates as a parent cooperative preschool organized and administered by parents on a non-profit, non-sectarian basis. It features a mixed-age classroom and a play-based, non-profit preschool model where teachers, parents, and children share the experience of learning together. Parents assist professional teachers in the classroom on a rotating basis, participate in the educational program of all the children, and each family shares in the business operation of the school. Kiddie Kampus Cooperative Preschool has classrooms and a play area with space to run, jump, climb, and play. Local field trips foster community and help bring learning to life. The school is licensed by the State of California and is a member of the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (CCPPNS), and it was voted #1 Preschool in Alameda. It has a 6:1 ratio in TK, is the only cooperative preschool in Alameda, and has been a parent cooperative preschool since 1948.
