Overnight Youth & Education Programs at the USS Hornet Museum include overnight stays on the ship with tours and hands-on activities. Program options include History Mystery Overnight, Family Paranormal Overnights, Scout Service Restoration Overnight, Apollo or Night Wings Themed Overnight, Full STEAM Ahead Liveaboard, and STEAM Overnight. The museum also offers related experiences such as History Mystery tours, Group Tours, Field Trips, and Daily Tours.

The program takes place on the USS Hornet Museum, which is a historic WWII aircraft carrier described as a floating city of steel, with exhibits that include aircraft, Apollo artifacts, and exhibit spaces. The museum is mostly self-guided with museum maps available, and docents are available throughout the museum for conversation and to lead tours. Flashlights are required for some specialty tours, including History Mystery tours, and cameras are welcome with a neck or wrist strap, with personal photography allowed and professional equipment requiring advanced reservations. Visitors are instructed to wear comfortable, closed-toed walking shoes and consider layers because some parts of the ship can be cold, and bag size is limited to 12 x 8 x 12 inches, with lockers available for rent at the Admissions Desk. Due to safety rules, all visitors on Daily Tours must be at least 48 inches in height, and children under 16 years of age must be with an adult at all times.
