The program’s mission is to increase access to climate change mitigation by providing ecological experiences and climate job pathways. REAP Climate Center is shaping STEM/STEAM programs internally and with partner organizations and partners with the Alameda Young Naturalist Club for field trips, camps, and after school programs for ages 6 thru 12. It provides a home for other organizations working within the context of its mission and supports their efforts ecologically, socially, and measurably, including on-campus nonprofit partners and efforts such as the Wild Oyster Project. The campus includes regular volunteer days that are good for youth community service hours, with all ages welcome for volunteer days and a required adult supervision ratio of 1 adult for every 5 kids. Field trips, camps, and after school programs for ages 6 thru 12 are offered via the Alameda Young Naturalist Club, and internships for ages 15 thru 20 have a fifty-hour minimum commitment, with preference given to on-campus presence and consideration for remote options. Waivers are required, must be completed electronically, and paper waivers are not accepted. REAP aligns with many of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and will use these to target and measure impact.
