• Ages: 5–13 years old
The program’s mission is to spark kids’ curiosity, creativity, and love of learning by blending STEAM adventures with sports and joyful outdoor movement, with a focus on holistic development that includes intellectual and physical growth in a fun, inclusive environment. Programs include STEAM, sports, and enrichment that incorporates social-emotional learning in every activity, with an emphasis on inclusivity, friendship, and community. Brains & Motion reports over 1,100 school partners, more than 100,000 students empowered, tens of thousands of BAM! alumni, and programs held at local schools and nearby universities across the country, along with guided recess offerings in addition to camps and before/after-school programs. A limited time offer notes that families who buy 3 weeks of camp receive 1 week free.
Instructors and coaches undergo meticulous background checks and hiring practices, receive rigorous staff trainings and at-camp safety protocols, and are trained in their specific subject areas as well as child development and safety protocols. Staff bring backgrounds in education, coaching, STEAM, and child psychology. The leadership team includes Bart Epstein (CEO), Frank Bonanno (CFO), Kristopher Kasper (COO), Lori Todd (VP of Sales), Jody Nova (VP of Product & Curriculum), Charissa Murphy (VP of Finance), Kirsten Tamura (Director of Talent Acquisition & Customer Service), Sarah Esquivel (Director of Sales Operations), Amanda Wright (Operations Director), Jessica De Arcos (Operations Director), Casie DiCenso (Director of Summer Camps), Mallory Davis (Director of Training & Development), and Trey Thompson (Director of Sales, West). Brains & Motion partners with local Bay Area schools and community organizations to create safe, inspiring spaces for kids.
Parent feedback includes comments that a counselor named Camille quickly eased a young camper’s nerves and connected over the child’s interests, that one child wished the robotics camp was longer because of how much fun he had, and that another camper became more talkative at home and had a lot to share about her group and coach. One parent review describes the program as well rounded across the STEAM range, notes that the parent views it as more enriched than an average after care program, and highlights an instructor, Ms. Sierra, as helpful, kind, very bright, and clearly loving her work.
