United Methodist Preschool is an all-inclusive faith-based preschool for children ages 2–5 that offers morning programs with an option for Lunch Bunch. The program states a vision to support children’s social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive growth in a loving, safe, and faith-filled environment, and it states that children learn best through teacher-guided, hands-on experiences. It uses play-based learning in a small-class setting, with a 4:1 child-to-teacher ratio in the 2’s Program, a 5:1 ratio in the 3’s Program, and a 9:1 ratio in the Pre-K Program. The 2’s Program does not require children to be potty trained, and Lunch Bunch is available only for potty trained children in the 3’s and Pre-K programs.

United Methodist Preschool began in 1974 as a small community center program with 16 students and received its official license from the State of California on September 16, 1975. It has been operating for nearly five decades and is described as a vital outreach to the San Ramon Valley community. The preschool’s early classroom space later became a church conference room and office, and its current classrooms are in a children’s building, with a playground in a back area and a central courtyard that was previously used as a playground.

Parent testimonials describe United Methodist Preschool as having small class sizes, play-based learning, and teachers and staff who are characterized as warm, organized, responsive, and caring. Parents report that their children were excited to attend, received one-on-one attention, and experienced what they describe as a positive first school experience. Multiple parents refer to the preschool as a “hidden gem” and express appreciation for the environment and the staff’s interactions with children and families.
