The Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area has been active throughout the San Francisco Bay Area since 1998. Its mission is to empower, inspire and support people with Down syndrome, their families and the community that serves them, while fostering awareness and acceptance in all areas of life. Community involvement includes public policy outreach, education advocacy, new parent outreach, support groups, and the Medical Outreach Alliance. Unique features include Welcome Baskets for new parents that contain baby books, handmade quilts and hats, and information about Down syndrome, as well as free membership that provides more access to programs, events and information. DSCBA families receive discounted room rates, waived resort fees, a retail discount at Buckhorn Exchange, and complimentary parking at Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca. The program keeps programs, events, workshops, and office closures in one place through a full calendar that updates in real time and can sync to Google Calendar and add events with one click. The leadership team includes an Executive Director and Directors for family support, programs, finance and operations, development, aging support, and education, along with staff focused on volunteers, communications and social media, events, programs and operations support, and community engagement in Sonoma.
