About

ACEing Autism – Danville San Ramon High School offers weekly tennis clinics for children with autism. The clinics follow a set curriculum, and participants play tennis with support from trained Program Directors and volunteers.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly one-hour Sunday clinics in sessions that typically run six to eight weeks; the first session is a four-week session

Trained Program Directors and volunteers lead participants through the curriculum, with volunteers paired with a participant, ideally for the full session. The program notes that children do not need prior tennis knowledge, as the curriculum and volunteers support each child’s individual abilities and needs. Elbert and Naga serve as the Danville San Ramon High School Program Directors. The program’s mission states that tennis is a social game that offers a natural way to work on turn-taking, focus and attending, motor planning, and fine and gross motor skills. The Danville program is launching its first session in February 2024 with support from the Program Directors at Danville Monte Vista High School.
