About
American Canyon Parks Foundation Environmental Education & Outdoor Programs includes school programs, community nature programs, and environmental education that focus on outdoor connection. Children and families can take part in Discovery Days, Naturalist Walks, StoryWalk, Watershed Explorers, themed hikes, Wetlands Coffee Mornings, Wetlands Trail Clean Up Day, and Slow Stroll at Wetlands. The program also runs a screen time to green time campaign and offers activities at places such as The Outdoor Connection trailside learning center, the Wetlands Outdoor Fitness Center, a six-lane pool, a full-sized gymnasium, a Senior Multi-Use Center, and a Recreation Center.
The Parks Foundation is dedicated to educating youth, protecting the environment, and fostering community connections. It was founded by community volunteers to support parks, health, and access to open space, and is the only local non-profit organization in American Canyon that uses the outdoors to improve community health, children’s education, and social connection. Over the past decade, the Parks Foundation has contributed over $800,000 to the community, spearheaded the Napa River Ecology Center project, and developed numerous new environmental and nature programs. More than 100 Teen WILD participants volunteered over 1,300 hours in the community, and 260 volunteers contributed 1,100 hours of park support with the help of 15 program partners. The Parks Foundation is a 1% for the Planet approved Environmental Partner, built The Outdoor Connection trailside learning center on Napa County trails, created a screen time to green time campaign, and helped the community spend 35,000 hours outside.
