Dream Team offers elite basketball training combined with mentorship, leadership development, and Manhood Development workshops. Each week, players take part in a hour and a half Manhood Development workshop as part of the program. The program also includes manhood development workshops alongside basketball activities.

Dream Team is described as a movement designed to expand what young people believe is possible and to break that cycle. Through elite basketball training, mentorship, leadership development, and real-life experiences, the program exposes players to what is possible on and off the court. The program states that it does not just build athletes, but builds confident young leaders prepared for life.
The leadership team includes founder and workshop coach Jareem Gunter, Aaron Dalton as AD and 14u Coach (Founding Coach), and Bob Cleveland as 13u Coach. Jareem Gunter is a nationally recognized educator, author, and community leader with over 20 years of experience working with young men on manhood with purpose and integrity, and he is the author of The Man Book. His work has reached classrooms, communities, and Capitol Hill, where he trained educators on engaging and supporting boys of color, and in 2017 he received a Fellowship for The Campaign for Black Male Achievement. Aaron Dalton is a high-performance basketball coach who trained under Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy, has coached players from elementary through professional levels, has worked with Warriors basketball camps across Northern California, and played professionally in the CIBAPAC league in Mexico in August 2021. Coach Bob Cleveland is an educator, mentor, and basketball coach with over 20 years of high school coaching experience and is the founder of the Hoyas AAU program.
Dream Team highlights several unique features, including being the only completely free Middle School AAU basketball program in California and the Bay Area’s only free AAU basketball program, with the phrase “No fees. No barriers. Just opportunity.” The program notes that it combines elite competition with Manhood Development Workshops and also mentions a Dream Team Girls Program and a Beyond the Jersey Book Launch. The director and founder, Jareem Gunter, has been awarded Positive Coaching Alliance 2025 National Coach of the Year and previously received the Fellowship for The Campaign for Black Male Achievement.
