Canyon Swim School offers swimming instruction in a pool with water temperatures above 90 degrees and an ideal-size teaching pool. Classes are grouped by age and ability, use a badge award system with 14 levels of progression, and have small student/teacher ratios of 4:1 and 5:1. The school uses teaching techniques that are described as proven and provides a learning environment that is described as comfortable.

Canyon Swim School was established in 1951 and is described as one of the oldest swim schools. The owners are brothers Fred and Bill Brown, who have been teaching since 1956 and have over 100 combined years of teaching and coaching experience, and the staff is trained by them. The focus of the swim school is to provide children and adults with the tools needed to develop basic swimming skills, learn breath control, have a comfortable and enjoyable water experience, and acquire the knowledge and skills to be water-safe. Canyon Swim School ranks as one of the top swim schools in the Bay Area. The school has well-trained, knowledgeable instructors and constantly improved grounds and equipment for the enjoyment and convenience of all. Families are asked to park in the front parking lot and walk within a designated, roped-off area, remain on the premises with their children, and may arrange handicapped parking or back-lot parking for carpools of five or more swimmers through the office.
