About

The Youth Summer Program includes Filipino language classes, history and culture classes, dance classes, music, martial arts, and lifestyle activities. Students attend weekly classes about Filipino language, history and culture, and dance, with each class specifically designed for their age level. The Summer Program is the largest program offered and takes place from June to August.

• Schedule: The summer program every year begins around June or July and runs through the beginning of August, and the Summer Program takes place from June to August.
• Price: The cost of tuition for the different programs varies, and as a non-profit organization the program keeps tuition prices to a minimum to offset the costs of renting a venue, equitable teacher wages, and more.

Since its establishment in 1965, the Filipino Cultural School has continued to offer ways to learn more about Philippine culture. The organization also offers online Filipino language workshops for both K–12 students and adults, available to anyone anywhere in the world. Its mission is to educate youth about their Filipino heritage through dance, music, culture, social issues, and language, and to create a sense of Filipino pride and identity while building community through relationships and discovering one’s identity. As a nonprofit that centers itself around its community, the organization is mindful of local South Los Angeles and North Orange County school calendars so the program does not overlap with the beginning or end of the school year. One parent testimonial notes that the program teaches about important Filipinos in history, such as Larry Itliong and Jose Rizal, as well as Filipino traditions and language, and expresses excitement about returning. The Filipino Cultural School website also notes that the 2026 Youth Summer Program has reached capacity and is sold out, with a wait list offered and priority given by the order on the wait list, with no guarantee that a spot will become available.
