About
Adventure Camp Menlo Park includes mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, paddling, and rock climbing. Campers follow a sample weekly schedule that can include Monday hiking, Tuesday kayaking, Wednesday biking, Thursday stand up paddleboarding, and Friday biking. Campers get access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids, and they can bring their own bikes or borrow from the camp’s fleet, which accommodates campers of any size.
• Ages: 7–12 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, camp hours 8:30 AM–3:00 PM; extended care available 8:00 AM–6:00 PM with early drop off starting at 8:00 AM and after care pick up 3:00–6:00 PM
• Price: One week price $840; Early Drop Off (starting at 8 AM) $40; After Care (pick up 3:00–6 PM) $115; Avid4 Merch (delivery at camp, prices vary, tax included)
Instructors are all 18 and older with serious safety and skills training and are described as “the best outdoor instructors around.” Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong. Campers are grouped by grade, with 2nd–4th graders concentrating on getting comfortable with new activities and 5th–7th graders focusing more on teamwork and deepening technical competence. Campers participate in teambuilding activities, learn about flora and fauna, and are taught Leave No Trace principles. Stand up paddleboarding sessions include games and challenges, along with instruction in proper strokes and rescue techniques. Parents and campers meet staff at a consistent location daily, Avid4 Adventure provides transportation for campers to recreation areas for the day’s adventure sport, and campers return to the same meeting place for afternoon pick up.
Adventure Camp Menlo Park runs as a one-week adventure summer camp that centers on authentic local settings, with every day offering a different activity such as mountain biking, hiking, or paddling a stand up paddleboard or kayak. Every challenge is calibrated to campers’ age and ability, and programs evolve as campers grow, from age 3 through 17 across Avid4 Adventure offerings. The camp is led by Avid4 Adventure, founded by David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states, “We believe in the transformative power of the outdoors,” and describes itself as the home of multi-sport adventure.
Avid4 Adventure’s summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, the organization is a Certified B Corp committed to public transparency and accountability, and it has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is committed to paying educators a fair wage. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which promises an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence; if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free (“on us”). Families can access a Multi-Session/Sibling discount of $25 off per session after the first, a Referral Program that gives friends $50 off their first camp and provides a $50 coupon for a future 2026 camp when they purchase, and a Service Discount of $65 off for qualifying professions.
Parent testimonials describe this as a favorite camp where a child who previously used training wheels learned to ride a bike without them and discovered new favorite activities such as stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and biking. Other parents report that their children were eager to share what they learned each day and describe the staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion, and they characterize the program as well run with new outdoor skills learned. Another parent notes that their kids had “the best time” at this camp, still talked about it more than a month later, and were active every day.
