About
Rock Climbing Camp – Menlo Park focuses on rock climbing and bouldering practice along with detailed instruction in climbing safety and ethics. Campers spend time learning climbing commands, proper spotting, hazard identification, and techniques for footwork and body positioning. They also practice equipment setup, traditional gear placement, identifying natural anchors, knot tying, belaying, and rappelling.

During the week, camp hours run from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with extended care available from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Campers are grouped by grade range, either 2nd–4th graders or 5th–7th graders. Transportation is provided to and from recreation areas, and campers use top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids, including carabiners, stoppers, camalots, and belay devices as they practice equipment setup and traditional gear placement.
Avid4 Instructors are described by parents as the number one point of positive feedback, are all 18 and older, and have serious safety and skills training. The leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. The organization states that every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong, and that it does everything in its power to keep kids safe but does not “pack them up in bubble wrap.”
The mission of Avid4 Adventure is to share the transformative power of the outdoors, where kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. Programs evolve as campers grow, from age 3 through 17. Avid4 Adventure is a Certified B Corp, is accredited by the American Camp Association, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps.
The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which promises an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and states that if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. Discounts include a Multi-Session/Sibling discount of $25 off per session after the first, a Referral Program where families can give friends $50 off their first camp and receive a $50 coupon for a future 2026 camp when that friend makes a purchase, and a Service Discount of $65 off for qualifying professions.
Parent testimonials describe this as a favorite camp where one child learned to ride a bike without training wheels and discovered new favorite activities like stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and biking. Other parents note that their children were eager to share what they learned each day, describe the staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion, and say their kids had “the best time” and were active every day.
