About

Mountain Biking Camp – Menlo Park focuses on mountain biking, trail riding, and bike maintenance. Campers ride on dirt trails and use bikes that are tuned, fit them well, and are appropriate for trail riding, including hand brakes, gears, and wider tires. In order to register, campers must be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface, and campers who do not meet this requirement may be moved to a different program if space is available or removed from the group and offered a credit.

• Ages: 7–12 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, with camp hours from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM and extended care available from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Price: One Week Price $840; Early Drop Off starting at 8 AM $40; After Care pick up 3:00–6:00 PM $115; Bike Rental $50; Avid4 Merch delivered at camp, prices vary (tax included)

The program strongly encourages campers to use their own bikes, and offers bike rentals during registration for those who need one. Campers are grouped by grade range, either 2nd–4th graders or 5th–7th graders, and transportation is provided to and from recreation areas, including authentic local recreation areas they can return to on their own. Campers have access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids.

The staff are all 18 and older and have safety and skills training, and the leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors. The program is accredited by the American Camp Association, has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps, is a Certified B Corp, and operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, and the organization’s programs evolve for campers from age 3 through 17.

One parent, Emily Medress, reported in September 2023 that her daughter learned to ride without training wheels during camp and that biking, stand up paddle boarding, and kayaking became her favorite activities. Another parent, Molly Marienthal, stated in September 2023 that her child wanted her to come see everything she had learned each day and described the staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion. A third parent, Suzanne Dayton, shared in September 2023 that her kids had a great time, were active every day, and looked forward to returning the next year.
