Camp Cherry Valley offers ocean kayaking, island hikes, and evenings around a campfire under the stars. Campers kayak through calm, sparkling waters, snorkel among Catalina’s colorful fish, hike trails with sweeping island views, and earn merit badges in hands-on programs during eight incredible weeks of resident camp and Cub Scout programming. The camp is described as offering a balance of adventure and reflection and is set in a sheltered cove with a sandy beach.

Camp Cherry Valley will welcome its 101st season of Scouting adventure in Summer 2026, continuing a history that began in 1923. The camp has over 100 years of Scouting history and experiences and is described as one of the most beloved destinations in Scouting, guided by the Scout Oath and Scout Law. New facilities at the camp include an updated Dining Hall and Trading Post.
The leadership team includes Matthew Thornton as Camp Director, Rebecca Kenison as Office Manager, and Derrick Schemel as Program Director. Ranger qualifications for staff include being 21 years of age or older, having a valid driver’s license, preferred experience working in a camp, park, or outdoor recreation setting, preferred knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical systems, and familiarity with outdoor safety standards and emergency procedures.
