About
Camp Emerald Bay offers activities such as canoeing across the island and camping out on a new beach. The program is co-located with Emerald Bay Outdoor Academy, which is a science, conservation, and research outdoor educational camp with a curriculum focused on leadership, character development, and the marine and earth sciences. An online Camp Store is available for Camp Emerald Bay merchandise.
Camp Emerald Bay has offered Scouts, school children, and other visitors opportunities to explore nature for more than 100 years. The camp is a proud camp of Scouting America Western Los Angeles County Council and is professionally operated by the Western Los Angeles County Council. Camp Emerald Bay and Camp Whitsett together serve over 18,000 visitors annually, and the Council serves 10,000 Scouts from across Los Angeles County.
The Camp and Program Director is Linnea Heinstedt, and Jeff Lee is the contact for Spring and Fall adventure opportunities. Mail sent via FedEx Ground is not delivered to Camp Emerald Bay, and only UPS Ground, UPS Air, or FedEx Air are accepted.
One testimonial from Joey states that Camp Emerald Bay allowed him to learn many new things as a person and as a Scout and to realize improvements needed in his leadership so he could support his fellow Scouts. James shares that his week at summer camp there was his favorite so far, that the counselors were “awesome,” and that the food was consistently “delicious.” Joshua reports that he “had an absolute blast at camp,” learned about the ocean and leatherworking, and that he and his friend were able to canoe across the island and camp out on a new beach.
