Camp Valor is a faith-based non-profit program founded in 2011. The program states values of Dedication, Determination, and Discipline and notes that all programs are designed to help boys grow in confidence. After boot camp, Camp Valor soldiers who have completed training are part of the year's active duty unit, can attend special events over the next 10 months, and can continue year after year by paying a yearly renewal fee. Attendance is closely reviewed for promotions, and participants are challenged physically through training and the obstacle course, emotionally through discipline and taking responsibility for their actions, and spiritually through studying the Bible and learning how to apply its principles in their lives. Camp Valor is not a correctional program, and the annual program begins in the summer. Boys are required to bring lunch every day with a refillable bottle of water.

The director is Gunny Hernandez, USMC Retired. Staff experience includes a 20-year U.S. Marine who has served as a drill instructor and infantry instructor and is also the pastor of Christ Centered Church Bakersfield.
