Camp Valor

Camp Valor offers Boot Camp for boys ages 9-17. Boot Camp is one week of training, with classes Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to Saturday 9:00 am. After boot camp, boys can join the unit for monthly training, camping trips, and marching in the Veteran's parade. Boot Camp costs $450 and includes the uniform and a one year enlistment. Re-Enlistment is for returning veteran boys ages 9-12 and costs $125.

About the provider

Camp Valor was founded in 2011. The director is Gunny Hernandez, USMC Retired. The mission is to help young men build a relationship with Christ through training in military principles and relating them to Godly values. The program states that it aims to help boys grow in confidence, discipline, determination, and dedication. Gunny Hernandez is a 20-year U.S. Marine, drill instructor and infantry instructor, and pastor of Christ Centered Church Bakersfield.

All fees must be paid for registration to be complete. A registration packet with appropriate signature from the boy's parent or legal guardian must be submitted. If a boy is absent during training or quits, he will not graduate, will not receive the uniform, and no refund will be issued. Monthly payments are accepted for boot camp, but all fees are due by June 15 of the current year. The program is faith-based and non-profit.
