The Gifted & Talented (GATE) Program is offered within the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District. The program takes place in a district that employs a staff of dedicated, energetic, and highly qualified teachers.

Established in 1875, the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District has a long history of serving students. The district’s mission is to provide quality learning opportunities for every student by supporting teachers through mentoring and high quality appropriate professional development. The leadership team includes Superintendent Katie Russell and multiple assistant superintendents overseeing Instructional Services, Business Services, Educational Services, Human Resources, and Special Services, along with their administrative secretaries. Schools in the district are known for being recognized as California Distinguished Schools and for receiving the 2022 California Pivotal Practice Award, California Schools to Watch, and Positive Behavior Intervention Schools designations. The NAMM Foundation has recognized the district for outstanding music education and for the efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who are making music part of a well-rounded education for every child in the district. The district highlights award winning schools, outstanding music education, a growing STEM/STEAM program, student participation in career technical institutes and competitions, and a well-defined heritage that strongly correlates student assessment with classroom instruction.
