Golden Empire Youth Football & Cheer is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide a competitive youth tackle football program and a youth cheer program for elementary and junior high school students. The league’s primary goal is to offer a safe and educational training ground for the basic fundamentals of youth football and cheer, to develop sound mind, body, and character while promoting an atmosphere of fun for youth. The program is described as Kern County’s premier youth football and cheer program and emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and respect. Coaches are committed to developing well-rounded individuals who are confident and resilient, and the program aims to build champions on and off the field.
Golden Empire Youth Football & Cheer is a feeder program for high schools in the Kern County area and uses Kern High School District residential boundaries, as well as appropriate high school boundaries for outlying programs such as Taft, Wasco, or Shafter. Feeder programs for private high schools use non boundary specific criteria. Participants are required to try out and/or play in the district where they reside. The organization is AB – 1 (California Youth Football Act) compliant. Local businesses and community members can join as sponsors to support the program.
