About
Golden Empire Youth Football & Cheer offers youth tackle football and youth cheer. Football participants take part in team tryouts, while cheer participants work on cheerleading fundamentals including stunting, dance, and chants. The program operates as a nonprofit organization.
• Schedule: Teams are eligible to start tryouts as early as March 1st of each season, with no more than three tryout sessions in a seven day period and each session not exceeding two hours; parents should prepare for a two to three week period on average for tryouts.
• Price: There is no fee to try out for a Golden Empire team; only when a child has been selected to a team will a participant registration fee be required.
The stated purpose of Golden Empire Youth Football & Cheer is to provide a competitive youth tackle football program and a youth cheer program for elementary and junior high school students. The primary goal of the league is to provide a safe and educational training ground for the basic fundamentals of youth football and cheer, to develop sound mind, body and character while promoting an atmosphere of fun for youth. The program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and respect, and the cheer program emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. It is a feeder program for high schools in the Kern County area, and Kern High School District residential boundaries and appropriate high school boundaries are used to determine team tryouts and play districts. Participants are required to try out and/or play in the district they reside in, and if a participant lives in an area without a Golden Empire Youth Football & Cheer feeder program, they can contact the league office for assistance. Golden Empire Youth Football & Cheer is an AB – 1 (California Youth Football Act) compliant organization. Local businesses and community members can join as sponsors to support the program.
