“Pasitos” California State Preschool Program

About
The “Pasitos” California State Preschool Program offers hands-on experiences and activities as part of a comprehensive preschool program. The program includes high-quality early education, healthy snacks and meals, health screenings including dental, and referrals to local resources as needed. It does not offer daycare services, as it is an educational preschool program.

• Schedule: 12-month program for full-day services; 10-month program for half-day services
• Price: These services are completely FREE for eligible families.
The program provides a comprehensive preschool experience for children ages 3 to 5 and low-income families. For the 2024–25 year, the program includes 10 classrooms, serves more than 300 children, and serves more than 280 families. Staff in the program are bilingual in English and Spanish.
The Human Services Association (HSA), a private nonprofit agency, operates the program with a mission to provide families with compassionate and comprehensive care to promote wellness and build strong communities. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. The website for the program is supported by Grant Number 09CH012429 from the Office of Head Start within the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
During registration, families are required to provide a birth certificate or hospital certificate, an immunization record, proof of income such as a W-2, income tax, TANF/CalWORKs document, or SSI notice letter, and proof of residence. One parent, Maria, reports having had three children in the “Pasitos” program who are excelling in elementary school and shares that her youngest is doing well thanks to her “Pasitos” teachers.
