Berkeley Ballet Programs offers Pre-Ballet Division classes for ages 2-7, Youth Division classes for ages 6-18 with a placement class required, Studio Company for ages 12-18, Boys Class for ages 8-14, Rhythm & Motion for all ages, and Adult Open Division for ages 13+. It also offers Dance for PD® classes, Summer Dance Classes for ages 6-18, and Junior/Senior Summer Intensives for ages 11-18.

Programs

  • Pre-Ballet Division — ages 2-7; 2026-27 Season says ages 2.5-6 · Invites young dancers to unlock creativity and awaken a love for dance with age-appropriate lessons.
  • Youth Division — ages 6-18; placement class required · Offers a rigorous curriculum rooted in classical ballet and informed by a modern approach to movement.
  • Studio Company — ages 12-18 · Pre-professional dancers share their passion for dance through performances and collaborations.
  • Boys Class — ages 8-14 · Free summer boys' class; tuition-waived classes for boys and male-identifying youth interested in movement, music, and self-expression.
  • Rhythm & Motion — all ages · High-energy, dance-based workout incorporating movement and music styles.
  • Adult Open Division — ages 13+ · Provides a focused and supportive environment for dancers of all levels to refine technique and develop artistry through performance opportunities.
  • Dance for PD® — Provides free classes to community members affected by Parkinson's disease.
  • Summer Dance Classes — ages 6-18 · Summer programs include placement classes for Youth Division dancers.
  • Junior/Senior Summer Intensives — ages 11-18 · A technically challenging, artistically enriching program.

About the provider

Berkeley Ballet’s mission is to provide professional-level ballet training to dancers of all ages, races, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Studio Company dancers perform in annual programming and in collaborations with SF Girls Chorus, Berkeley Symphony, BAMPFA, San Francisco Girls Chorus, and Berkeley Symphony.

  • Tuition Assistance — all ages · Provides ongoing and elevated single-time assistance for families in need; awards are provided as funding permits.

Tuition Assistance applications are considered in three phases with deadlines August 1, October 1, and February 1. Tuition Assistance applies to classes and fees associated with the Season, including school year and summer training, and awards are provided as funding permits. Prorating is unavailable for Summer 2026 sessions. Applying families must enroll for the Season and make one minimum payment toward tuition to receive assistance.
