BBT’s Pre-Ballet Division offers age-appropriate lessons that build a foundation for future study. The Youth Division follows a rigorous curriculum rooted in classical ballet and informed by a modern approach to movement with a focus on body image and physical well-being. Studio Company dancers participate in BBT’s annual programming and collaborations with organizations including San Francisco Girls Chorus, Berkeley Symphony, and BAMPFA, and Youth Division dancers in Levels 7, 8, and 9 share their love of dance with community partners such as Berkeley Symphony, BAMPFA, and San Francisco Girls Chorus. Rhythm & Motion is a high-energy, dance-based workout that uses a mix of movement and music styles with choreography rooted in dancer fundamentals and inspired by popular music from around the world. The Adult Open Division serves dancers from absolute beginner to professional, offering classes to refine technique and performance opportunities to develop artistry. Dance for PD® provides free classes with live music for community members affected by Parkinson’s disease, giving them a space to connect with their bodies and express themselves through movement. BBT’s performance of Serenade, a Balanchine® Ballet, is presented by arrangement with The George Balanchine Trust and is produced in accordance with the Balanchine Style® and Balanchine Technique® Service standards established and provided by the Trust.
