About
Berkeley Rep School of Theatre offers dynamic workshops for grades TK–12, in-school residencies, and student matinees. All classes at the School of Theatre are taught by professional theatre artists, and student matinees for Berkeley Rep’s 2026/27 season are open to all Bay Area high schools. Workshops for grades TK–12 support the development of communication, problem solving, and creative expression, and in-school residencies connect Berkeley Rep workshops directly to classroom curriculum.
Berkeley Repertory Theatre has provided a welcoming home for emerging and established artists since 1968. Berkeley Rep’s mission is to create ambitious theatre that entertains and challenges its audiences, provokes civic engagement, and inspires people to experience the world in new and surprising ways. The School of Theatre serves some 20,000 people a year, offers immersive training for current and future theatre makers, and offers classes for a wide range of skill levels, ages, and interests. Berkeley Repertory Theatre received the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre in 1997. Through its In Dialogue program, Berkeley Rep places its theatre-making skills and resources in service of the community by developing long-term collaborations with local, socially centered organizations and by educating and activating audiences around organizations whose work aligns with the themes of its productions.
