Cornerstone Children's Center

Cornerstone Children's Center offers blocks and construction, cognitive skill games, dramatic play, science discoveries, process art, music, puppets, and storytelling as part of its daily activities. The program operates as a Christian nursery, preschool, and pre-kindergarten that uses play-based, child-centered, and teacher-supported learning. All classes use age-appropriate Creative Curriculum, and the Pre-K program also uses the Get Set for School Curriculum.

Cornerstone Children's Center is NAEYC-accredited and state-licensed. It has small staff-to-child ratios and group sizes, including 1:3 for infants, 1:4 for toddlers, 1:6 for young 2’s, and 1:8 for preschoolers. Teachers are described as loving and experienced, and they are trained in early childhood education, first aid, and infant/child CPR. The program states that it combines loving and safe care with creative and stimulating play to nurture young children and support their families. Cornerstone has been serving the community since 1991 and extends care to all families regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, gender, socioeconomic status, or religion. It describes itself as a parent-friendly environment with options for on-site nursing, parenting education, classroom involvement, scholarship help, and extended care. The program notes that it is conveniently located near UC Berkeley and that there are immediate openings in the Infant and Pre-K Programs.
