Berkeley Coding Academy Summers offers Data Science - The AI Journey, AI First Steps - Python Programming, Preparing for AI - Data Cleaning & Visualizations, The Code Behind AI - Machine Learning, and AI in Action - Building Neural Nets. Students use Python, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Sklearn, and Keras, and projects include functions, libraries, methods, strings, lists, loops, conditionals, dictionaries, games, chatbots, data analysis, visualizations, machine learning models, and neural networks.

Programs

• Data Science - The AI Journey — 12-14, 15-18; age 11 considered for advanced students with algebra and computer proficiency (permission required) · Zoom, weekdays, 9:00am-12:30pm PT; options include July 6-31, July 6-24, and July 13-31
• AI First Steps - Python Programming — New coders and students who want to improve in Python · July 6-10 · Foundation in computer science and Python skills; topics include functions, libraries, methods, types, strings, ints, floats, lists, loops, conditionals, dictionaries, games, chatbots and more.
• Preparing for AI - Data Cleaning & Visualizations — July 13-17 · Use Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn for data analysis, visualizations, and final projects with personal research.
• The Code Behind AI - Machine Learning — July 20-24 · Use Scikit-learn to build and evaluate machine learning models, including Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, K-Nearest Neighbors, Decision Trees, Random Forests, XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost.
• AI in Action - Building Neural Nets — July 27-31 · Use Keras (TensorFlow) to build neural networks, including CNNs, and analyze the architecture of LLMs.
• 1-1 Classes in AI - From Python to Deep Learning — Students of all ages · Dates and times flexible · 1-1 classes with an instructor; students develop projects in Python, Data Science, Machine Learning or AI.

About the provider

All sessions meet on Zoom on weekdays from 9:00am-12:30pm PT. Interactive lectures are taught live online by program director Corey Wade with senior instructors supporting, and cohorts are led by data science instructors with support staff providing 1-1 help as needed. The original curriculum has been continuously revised for over 6 years. The program is described as an award-winning summer program, and BCA students have given lecture time a mean rating of 4.7/5 over six years, cohort time 4.9/5, and bonus time 4.8/5 over six years.

Pricing shown: $3,259.00. Packages include Full AI Package (4-week program), Python + Data Science Package (3-week program), and Data Science + AI Package (3-week program). Information on coding background is collected via survey as part of the enrollment process to place students in the right cohort.
