Kala Art Institute’s mission is to help artists sustain their creative work over time through its Artist-in-Residence and Fellowship Programs, and to engage the community through exhibitions, public programs, and education. Kala’s Teaching Artists are both educators and artists who represent a broad range of cultural backgrounds and artistic approaches, and Kala works with them for their professional skills, engagement with the art community, and experience teaching children, teens, and adults. Kala offers professional facilities to those working in and across printmaking and digital media, installation, sound, sculpture, and performance. Kala Art Institute is located in Huichin, the home territory of Chochenyo speaking Ohlone people, on unceded Lisjan Ohlone land, and its programs are presented in partnership with the California Arts Council, celebrating 50 years of investing in California’s artists. Kala receives a 2025 Creative Forces Community Engagement grant. If a person with a disability requires an accommodation to participate in a program, service, or activity, or requires documents in alternative formats, they can contact Ellen Lake at 510-520-6438 voice, Dial 711 for CRS, or email at [email protected].
