Nia House Learning Center is a Montessori Toddler and Primary Program and a non-profit Montessori school. The Toddler Program serves children aged 18 months to 3 years, with a stated goal for toddler learners to be naturally independent, socially responsible, confident, physically capable, curious, and motivated learners. The Primary Program serves children 3–6 years old and includes the traditional Montessori three-year plan. The program states a commitment to providing children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years with an education centered around peace, understanding, acceptance, independence, community, and truth, and it actively works toward Dr. Maria Montessori’s concepts, especially peace through education. Its mission is to bring together children from different socio-economic backgrounds to grow and work in harmony and cooperation. Nia House Learning Center has been serving Berkeley since 1974.
The program includes a land acknowledgement noting that Berkeley sits in the territory of xučyun.
