• Ages: 18 months–6 years old

Nia House Learning Center is a Montessori Toddler and Primary Program that has been serving Berkeley since 1974. The Toddler Program serves learners aged 18 months to 3 years, and the stated goal for children in this program is for them to become and remain naturally independent, socially responsible, confident, physically capable, curious, and motivated learners. The Primary Program serves children 3–6 years old and builds skills in Math, Art, Language, Culture, Botony, Zoology, sensorial education, and Practical Life.

The mission of Nia House Learning Center is to provide children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years with an education centered around peace, understanding, acceptance, independence, community, and truth. The program’s mission also states that it brings together children from different socio-economic backgrounds to grow and work in harmony and cooperation, and that it actively works toward all of Dr. Maria Montessori's concepts, especially that of peace through education.

Nia House Learning Center notes that Berkeley sits in the territory of xučyun as part of its land acknowledgement.

Parent feedback includes the statement, “When we started at Nia House, we were newly back to the Bay Area and instantly felt like we had a wonderful community to which our family belonged” (A.L. on Yelp). Another parent states, “I am a pre school teacher myself and am constantly awed by the respect and empowerment given to the Nia House children by ALL of their teachers” (T.Mosley on Berkeley Parents Network).
