• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Core camp day from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, with optional morning extended care from 7:30 am to 9:00 am and afternoon extended care from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm
The program includes a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) option for teens entering 9th–10th grade, where participants help plan and facilitate a variety of summer activities with a focus on group facilitation, mediation, leadership, and professional skills, and this CIT program does not offer extended care. Under the guidance of mentoring staff, teens in the CIT program experience what being a summer camp counselor is like. Berkeley Day Camp staff state that they are committed to making the summer safe, fun, and filled with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. The camp notes that some former campers are now part of the staff team. The program also offers scholarships for low-income families and involves participants in volunteering at monthly Berkeley waterfront cleanups.
