About
Bliss Belly Kitchen offers a 30-hour summer camp where campers practice yoga, breathing, meditation, and cooking, including knife skills and culinary fundamentals. Daily activities include games, arts and crafts, free play, and themed culinary projects such as chocolate making, ice cream making, boba making, farm to table cooking, Breakfast for Lunch 101, and Yoga of Cooking. Each day includes time for campers to eat what they cook using organic, locally sourced ingredients that follow Ayurvedic, vegetarian, vegan, and refined-sugar-free guidelines.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Summer 2026 camp runs June–August 2026, typically 9AM–3PM, with a 30-hour summer camp format
• Price: Discounts available: Sibling, Multi-session, EarlyBird
The sample daily schedule runs from 9AM–11AM for games, yoga, mindfulness, and a snack break; 11AM–1PM for a culinary lesson and cooking; 1PM–1:45PM for lunch where kids eat what they make; and 1:45PM–3PM for clean up, arts and crafts, and free play. Each day starts with yoga, breathing, and meditation before entering the kitchen, and all recipes incorporate the fundamental principles of Ayurveda, with local, seasonal organic fruits and vegetables in every dish. Campers take home a T-shirt and a cookbook after a week of camp.
Bliss Belly Kitchen describes itself as a health-conscious, soul-conscious, and planet-conscious school of cooking, yoga, and breathing for children, with a core philosophy of “Anadata Sukhi Bava” (“Let the farmer be happy, let the cook be happy, let the person eating be happy....”). Classes and camps use farm-fresh, locally sourced organic ingredients and an Ayurvedic approach to cooking and eating, with vegetarian cooking that includes many plant-based proteins. The program states that research shows children are more likely to eat a new or familiar food when they have been involved in the cooking process, based on their experience.
Chef Neelam, the founder of Bliss Belly Kitchen, has been studying Ayurveda, meditation, yoga, and vegetarian cooking since 2000 and has catered for thousands using her signature “Yoga of Cooking” approach. In 2016, Bliss Belly Kitchen Summer Camp was started. In 2022, Chef Neelam started a nonprofit called Green Pocket Forest, which people are invited to learn about and volunteer for, and in the same year she was awarded TIME Magazine Teacher of the Year for her work empowering children to implement climate change solutions by planting Miyawaki forests in Berkeley, CA.
Summer 2026 Camp Registration is open with limited space available. One camper described the camp as improving knife skills, making it easier to bake independently, and increasing confidence and curiosity in the kitchen. Another camper said the camp helped them learn how to cook and that they really liked the yoga. A parent, KP, noted appreciation for the emphasis on fresh, whole, organic ingredients and eliminating refined white sugar, and observed that their elementary-aged child remained engaged through the camp day, was pleased with increasing skills and kitchen autonomy, and wanted to keep cooking for the family regularly.
