Dance for Kids was established in 1989, and Brentwood Academy of Dance is home to their award winning competition team. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade can join competition and performance teams, and the BAD performance and competition teams have been entertaining audiences and competing across Southern California, regularly receiving Platinum medal awards for performances and choreography. Dance for Kids and Brentwood Academy of Dance are family run, have recent renovations, and describe their environment as welcoming and positive, with students studying dance in a safe and comfortable setting.

Dance for Kids cultivates a team of professional dance instructors with degrees from top dance universities and arts academies in the country, and many instructors have studied child development, music theory, and education and have trained and performed with leading dance companies around the world. In 1999, Karen Chase, a Broadway dancer, actress, and one of the original “Laker Girls,” acquired Dance for Kids and ran the studio for 23 years before selling it to her daughter Taryn Greenman, a dance major with 15 years of business experience. The program states that it is more than just a dance studio and describes its mission as being a community where children grow with confidence, creativity, and compassion, from a baby’s first parent and me class to a graduating senior’s final bow, with a commitment to inspire joy through movement and to guide every dancer to feel seen, valued, and empowered on stage and in life.

Dance Magazine has honored the studio as a top 100 dance studio in the nation, and it was recently voted “Best Children’s Program in Brentwood.” DFK and BAD are described as widely recognized as one of the most successful and creative studios for dance instruction in Southern California and have been proudly serving families since 1989, with dedicated staff and world class teachers. The program notes that Winter/Spring registration is closed except for Acro classes and Parent & Me, and that summer registration is now live.

The studio reports that it proudly serves families from Beverly Hills, Westwood, West LA, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Culver City, Playa Vista, Marina Del Rey, Bel Air, Venice, and Mar Vista. One parent from Los Angeles shared that a 4-year-old child has attended Dance for Kids for two years, looks forward to class every week, has loved every class, and that the teachers are described as sweet, patient, and great with kids, with other parents described as friendly and relaxed.
