Galaxy Kids Code Club

Galaxy Kids Code Club offers a Jr. Code Club Preview Day for ages 5-7, a free introductory preview day, and a Code Club Intro Class for ages 8-16, a free introductory coding class that is available in person or virtual and welcomes beginners. It also offers Jr. Code Camp with iPad apps, programmable robots, and logic games, Code Club classes focused on creating art, games, and animations, and camps and classes in Minecraft, 3D printing, Roblox game design, and Scratch.

• Roblox Game Design — 8-14 · $89–$325 · Camp in Roblox Studio to design, build, and launch a 3D Roblox game.
• Mini-Sessions — 8+ · $259–$399 · Package-based classes where students learn to make video games, animations, and apps with Scratch.
• Private 1 on 1 Lessons — 6+ · Mon-Fri 10:00 am-7:00 pm; Sat 10:00 am-2:00 pm · $80–$1,535 · Virtual-only 1-on-1 coding lessons via Zoom, 45 minutes each, tailored to the student.

About the provider

Galaxy Kids Code Club is led by Lucretia McCovy Shaw, Founder and CEO. She studied engineering at Stanford University and earned a degree in Computer Systems Engineering. She is a member of the Computer Science Teachers Association, California School-Age Consortium, and National After-School Association, and serves on the Brentwood Chamber Board of Directors and as an advisor to the Antioch Youth Services and Recreational Services Committee. The program’s mission is to bridge the tech equity gap by ensuring equitable access to technology, promoting the use of technology to transform learning, and championing digital literacy education.

Classes are based on the age of the child. Beginners are welcome for the free intro class. Mini-sessions must be scheduled and completed within 3 months of purchase. Private lessons are 45 minutes each. Available lesson times are generally 10 AM–7 PM PT Monday–Friday and 10 AM–2 PM PT on Saturday. Private lessons are not available in June or July. No tablets for private lessons; Chromebooks are not preferred for Scratch, HTML, Javascript, and Python coders. For Scratch Jr, an Android tablet or iPad with Scratch Jr app and a second device with webcam are required.
