X Academy

X Academy offers the Santa Cruz Math Circle, Julia Robinson Math Festivals, Math Competitions, and Robotics Clubs. The Santa Cruz Math Circle is for students in 5th through 8th grade, and students in 3rd and 4th grade can join free games and puzzles with parent supervision.

Programs

• Santa Cruz Math Circle — 5th through 8th grade; for students in grades 3rd and 4th, free games and puzzles with parent supervision · Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
• Julia Robinson Math Festival — Helping students build confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging around math by hosting Math Festivals.
• Math Competitions — Facilitating access to robotics education across the county, in partnership with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education.
• Robotics Clubs — Empowering students across Santa Cruz County through robotics education while achieving top rankings in regional and world competitions.

About the provider

X Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 2014. Since launching the Santa Cruz Math Circle in 2014, it has organized 99 weekly math sessions for 441 students from 62 different schools and has hosted six Julia Robinson Math Festivals. Its leadership team includes Barbara Meister, Brianna Donaldson, Jennifer Gill, Tim Madsen, and Tim Sylvester. The organization has also expanded its work with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education and has served students in Santa Cruz and Monterey County, including students from traditionally underrepresented communities of color.

Tuition for the Fall 2026 Math Circle session is $155 with financial assistance available through the registration form. For 3rd and 4th graders, free games and puzzles are available with parent supervision and are not a dropoff event.
