About

Little Learners / Camp Calabasas offers a mix of sports, science projects, cooking activities, arts and crafts, outdoor play, swimming, and field trips. The program includes after-school recreation, seasonal day camps, enrichment classes, and summer camp opportunities that use these activities in different ways.

• Schedule: Summer Camp 2026 runs for 9 weeks; August Day Camp runs for 2 days; October Day Camp runs for 1 day; Winter Break Camp runs for 6 days; Fall Break Camp runs for 3 days

Since 2003, Little Learners has operated Camp Calabasas and has provided recreation, enrichment, and day camp programs for children in the Calabasas community. The organization states that its programs are developmentally appropriate and are designed to inspire growth, learning, creativity, and fun through engaging experiences in a safe and supportive environment, and that it strives to provide quality, fun, and well-rounded programs while developing programs that serve with joy.

The leadership team includes Bridget Nelson and Carly Armacost as Executive Directors and co-owners of Little Learners, LLC, along with Director Raquel Munro, Assistant Program Director Ms. Raquel (Raquel Avila-Camou) for the Camp Calabasas Program and Little Learners Kinder Program, and Ms. Christina (Christina Rivas) as Lead Staff for TK/Kinder programming. Staff members are all over the age of 18 and are attending college or hold degrees in child-centered fields, are assigned to specific grade levels, and support one another in providing the programs. Staff attend classes and seminars, are CPR/First Aid Certified, and stay current with new developments in the field, and they build meaningful relationships with participants and their families while maintaining positive relationships with local partners.

Bridget Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Mount St. Mary’s University and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Northridge, has completed over 40 units in Child Development and coursework toward Educational Therapy certification, participates in ongoing professional development, holds a California Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and is certified in the Handwriting Without Tears program, which is used in the Ladybugs Pre-K classroom to support early literacy development. Carly Armacost holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from California State University, Northridge, has completed extensive coursework in Early Childhood Education, and is currently completing her California Child Development Program Director Permit through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Christina Rivas graduated with her BA in History in 2023 from California State University, Northridge, has taken several Child Development classes, and is currently completing her Master’s in Educational Psychology with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Northridge.
