West Coast World Martial Arts Campbell’s founders first began teaching Taekwondo to their students at West Coast World Martial Arts over 40 years ago, and the Campbell location was the first ever school of the West Coast World Martial Arts association. Within this school, founding father Master Ernie Reyes Sr. developed seven national champions, and the first black belts he trained started there. The school is led by Great Grandmaster Ernie Reyes and Great Grandmaster Tony Thompson as founders and Great Grandmasters, with KJN Margie Reyes as the West Coast World Martial Arts Campbell school owner and Master Instructor, and Master Ernie Reyes Sr. recognized as the founding father of the association.
The purpose of West Coast World Martial Arts is to develop students physically, mentally, spiritually, and to have extraordinary character, with teaching based on the values of Honor, Loyalty, Family, and Bravery. Instructors focus on the growth and development of students inside and out of the martial arts world, and all senior black belt instructors, including Great Grandmaster Ernie Reyes and Great Grandmaster Tony Thompson, are certified black belts under World Taekwondo (formerly known as the World Taekwondo Federation). Great Grandmaster Ernie Reyes has been California State Tae Kwon Do Grand Champion at UC Berkeley (Fighting), USA National Tae Kwon Do Champion in Fighting and Forms, a bronze medal winner at the 3rd World Tae Kwon Do Championships (Fighting), rated in the top 10 in Open Forms Competition in the USA, and California State Lightweight Champion in Open Tournament Point Fighting.
Great Grandmaster Reyes was the creative and coaching force behind the West Coast World Action Team, which Bushido Magazine (Europe) recognized as “the #1 Martial Arts Demo Team in the World,” and he produced seven black belt national champions in one year, all certified World Taekwondo Federation black belts. He has received Lifetime Achievement awards from every major martial arts association in the United States, has been featured in every national karate magazine in the world, was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year, was honored as Instructor of the Year by the Professional Karate Association, and was recognized as one of the greatest masters of the 20th century on Masters of the Martial Arts, presented on national television by TNT. West Coast World Martial Arts Campbell is described as one of the flagship school locations of the association, and the studio offers tours for prospective students and parents.
