New Village Arts Education and Outreach Programs include documentary theatre programs in local high schools and improvisation classes. The improvisation classes serve both teens with learning challenges and older adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The programs are part of the broader New Village Arts organization.
New Village Arts is now celebrating its 19th season of professional theatre. Its mission is “crear experiencias artísticas aventureras para despertar el espíritu humano.” The organization includes a collaborative home for visual artists and actors, a forum that generates laughter, discussion, and deeper thinking within the community, and a training ground for future creators and art lovers. The education and outreach programs also include Teatro Pueblo Nuevo, a program focused on bilingual communities, and are connected with The Foundry, an arts incubator with 16 studios for painters, photographers, woodworkers, and others. NVA attracts more than 15,000 patrons each year and describes itself as the cultural center of North County San Diego, with an intimate 100-seat home for professional theatre.
