Classes use songs and scenes from popular Broadway shows and movie musicals, and all kids have their solo moment on stage. Musical Theatre classes use a method where all kids receive intimate mentorship.

• Ages: 0–18 years old

The Adderley School for the Performing Arts was founded in 1993 in Pacific Palisades, California, and has been operating for over 32 years. Its mission is stated as “Empowering Kids and Spreading Joy” and has been the mission for over 32 years. Since its inception, thousands of toddlers, kids, and teenagers have found a passion for musical theatre and a belief in their own abilities through the program.

The school has thriving programs in Pacific Palisades, Montecito, Austin, Rowayton/Darien, and New Orleans. Janet Adderley is the founder of The Adderley School for the Performing Arts, is a Broadway and TV veteran, and is a Yale University graduate. Janet has assembled a staff of musical directors, choreographers, voice coaches, and accompanists in all three Adderley School locations. Alana Adderley is described as igniting a fire of passion and pride in students. Instructors at the school instill confidence and joy in every student, helping them discover and develop their unique talents and realize their potential on stage and in life, and they instill joy and confidence in each child one by one through intimate mentorship.

In 2018, Janet’s goal of becoming a non-profit and opening the school’s doors to underserved communities became a reality in Austin. Graduates of the program have won Tony Awards, starred in blockbuster movies, and gone on to star as “Young Cosette” on Broadway and “Winthrop” in The Music Man opposite Eric McCormack and Kristin Chenoweth at The Hollywood Bowl. Graduates have performed for Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey and have toured with Andrea Bocelli, including a performance at Madison Square Garden. Guest teachers and performers have included Broadway veterans such as Tony Award–winning Marissa Jaret Winokur and Kristin Chenoweth, as well as David Foster and Marc Shaiman.
