The Get Together Foundation’s mission statement is: “We bring people together to make our world a better place to live and love.” The organization operates as a bridge between donor and charity by vetting and selecting charities that operate on a volunteer basis and organizing benefit concerts and community events to fundraise on their behalf, and it applies 100% of donors’ dollars to the intended cause as described in its approach. The leadership team includes co-founders Kevin and Mare Wachs, Director of Programming Lauri J. Reimer, Donor Relations staff member Stephanie Wachs, and Donation/Auction coordinator Heather Hatch. The organization’s community involvement includes partnering with local shelters, churches, missions, businesses, and social service organizations; partnerships with Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission and The Midnight Mission; a holiday Toy Drive for Hope the Mission; and work with a 48-bed Bridge Housing facility partnered with Hope of the Valley and the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission’s flagship family shelter. The organization notes that its work takes place on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Tongva, Chumash, and Fernandeño Tataviam peoples.
