To the Pointe Dance Productions was founded in January 2004 by Executive Director Lindsay Dixon, originally in the back room of a church, and within one year enrollment reached 30 and the program, then called Amazing Grace Dance Ministry, held its first recital in November 2004. Founded in 2004, To the Pointe is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All staff members are described as strong women of faith with a passion for the Lord that parallels their passion and talent as dancers and teachers. The program states a mission to provide superior dance training in an environment built on modesty, artistic excellence, authenticity, faith, and community, and to care about the development of students not only as dancers but as faithful examples of Christ's redeeming love.
The program describes its values as Artistry, Authenticity, Faith, Modesty, and Community, and notes a focus on modesty that includes a desire for children to dress like children, move like children, and retain their innocence. Classes are built on a classical dance training curriculum with a focus on developing proper technique and injury prevention, and level placement is determined solely by the director and assistant directors. To the Pointe Dance Productions states that it provides comprehensive classes and programs for dancers ranging from recreational students through pre-professional dancers, in an environment focused on technical foundation, artistic expression, personal character, and leadership.
To the Pointe Dance Productions describes several community-focused programs, including a thriving special needs program for kids and adults, a scholarship program that provides over $10,000 in tuition assistance annually to dancers in need, and a youth ministry team that performs and serves at hospitals, senior homes, churches, schools, and community events. The organization also includes a professional dance company, Aletheia Contemporary Dance Theatre, which performs at dance festivals, women's ministry events, and large non-profit and corporate fundraising events. The program notes partnerships and connections with faith-based organizations such as CYAA, Salem Christian Homes, BeFree Faith & Fitness, Ontario Christian Schools, various churches, and a number of homeschool groups and charter schools that use education funding toward dance classes.
