About

Coach Today, Lead for Life is a signature leadership program where participants coach youth sports. The program includes coaching youth sports such as flag football coaching.

• Ages: 15–18 years old

Since its founding in 2022, the program has been part of the Women’s Coaching Alliance, which focuses on developing female leaders through coaching youth sports. The program is led by Pam Baker, founder of the Women’s Coaching Alliance. The mission of the Women’s Coaching Alliance is to develop young women into confident leaders through coaching, mentorship, and community support, and through the Coach Today, Lead for Life program, participants build the skills, confidence, and experience to lead in sports, school, careers, and beyond, creating a more equitable future for the next generation. The Coach Today, Lead for Life program serves young women athletes ages 15–26, and participants are supported by a mentor, a community of peers, and an evidence-based curriculum that builds leadership skills including adaptability, navigating conflict, communication, decision-making, motivating others, and confidence. No prior coaching experience is necessary to coach with the program, participants can earn money while they coach, and they receive mentorship from experienced leaders and coaches.

In partnership with American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Angel City Football Club (ACFC), and the Claremont Club, the Women’s Coaching Alliance is launching its second chapter in Pasadena and Claremont. AYSO Regions in LA County partnered with the Women’s Coaching Alliance to fill the coaching gap, and ACFC and the Claremont Club support the organization’s growth in LA. The Women’s Coaching Alliance works with community recreational sports organizations to fill local coaching needs with highly trained local female coaches, and together with corporate and philanthropy partners, it is creating more opportunities for young women to coach today and lead for life. The Claremont Club has a long-standing history of offering youth programs in tennis and swim and is committed to building character through movement.

By earning the Platinum Seal of Transparency by GuideStar, the Women’s Coaching Alliance has met the highest standards for measuring and reporting on its progress and results. Testimonials about the organization and its work come from participants and supporters including a 16-year-old WCA flag football coach, Tara VanDerveer, Roger Goodell, Nicole Lavoi, Rosie White, Patti Phillips, Barbara Walker, Samantha Salvia, and Julie Uhrman.
