International Language School for Children and Adults (ILSCA)

International Language School for Children and Adults (ILSCA) offers small-group, conversation-centered language classes in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French, Portuguese, Japanese, German, Italian, American Sign Language (ASL), and English (ESL). It also offers Spanish immersion summer camps with conversation, play, hands-on activities, music, art, movement, games, stories, and cultural activities, plus after-school language programs and private instruction.

Programs

• Language classes for children, teens, and adults — Children, teens, and adults · Most classes meet on Saturdays; additional weekday programs are offered; online options are available · Small-group, conversation-centered language learning in languages including Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French, Portuguese, Japanese, German, Italian, American Sign Language (ASL), and English (ESL).
• Spanish immersion summer camps for children — Children ages 3-12 · Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, during the summer · Children experience Spanish through conversation, play, and hands-on activities. Camp activities may include music, art, movement, games, stories, and cultural activities.
• After-school language programs — Age group varies by school/community · Offered with public, private, and charter schools; programs are designed around the age group, school schedule, and language interests of each community.
• Online adult language group courses — Adults · Once a week for one hour; fall and spring sessions are 14 weeks, and summer session is 7 weeks · Small-group, conversation-centered courses with opportunities to practice conversation, listening, vocabulary, and other language skills appropriate to the level.
• In-person language classes for children — Children · Once a week for one hour; fall and spring sessions are 14 weeks, and summer session is 7 weeks · Welcoming small-group classes that may include games, songs, movement, stories, and interactive activities.
• Online language classes for children — Children · Once a week for one hour; fall and spring sessions are 14 weeks, and summer session is 7 weeks · Live, small-group instruction with age-appropriate conversation and interactive activities.
• Private instruction — Children and adults · Individualized support based on language, level, goals, and scheduling needs; may be online or in person.

About the provider

ILSCA has served the community since 1991. Its mission statement is: “Learn a Language. Build Confidence. Enjoy the Journey.” The school works with public, private, and charter schools for after-school programs and supports homeschool and charter school families. It also works with organizations for language learning and educational programs.

ILSCA is an independent language institute and is not affiliated with Pitzer College or the Claremont Colleges. Charter school funds may be accepted for approved classes and programs. Private instruction availability varies by language and instructor.
